Loop the Lake is an annual bike ride around Lake Monona to highlight our community’s lakeshore bike paths and to support CLA’s lake improvement and protection efforts. The ride occurs the morning of the Clean Lakes Festival and finishes at the festival grounds. The first annual ride in 2013 established the official Lake Loop Scenic Bike Route, which offers resident cyclists a permanent, alternative scenic bike route through Madison and Monona.
The ride will start at Law Park next to Machinery Row Bicycles. Riders will travel clockwise around the lake for a ride that will take recreational cyclists approximately one hour and 15 minutes to complete. Along the ride, there will be checkpoints as well as beverage stations. The ride ends at Law Park for the Clean Lakes Festival where riders will receive a free beverage (beer [21+] or soda) and sandwich. The bike course will remain open until 2:00 p.m.
